MP’s aides cry foul over police action
KUALA LUMPUR: Three DAP members claimed police invaded their privacy after raiding their hotel room and taking them away for wearing Bersih T-shirts.
The incident allegedly occurred at the Cool Point Hotel in Brinchang, Cameron Highlands, on Sunday.
The three were taken to the Brinchang police station where they were held for two hours before they were sent back to the hotel.
They were Seputeh member of parliament Teresa Kok’s assistants Lan Suet Ling, 23, Chin Kah Wai, 25, and Teh Hoong Keat, 25.
Lan said they were in Cameron Highlands for a holiday and were chatting in their room when the police came about 1am.
“This was clearly a breach of our privacy. We can wear whatever we want in our own room,” she said yesterday.
Lan added that the police did not take any statement from them.
Cameron Highlands district police chief Deputy Superintendent Wan Zahari Wan Busu said police went to investigate after the hotel management complained of loud noises coming from the room.
